Spotted in the park!

Could this be the elusive Fantastic Mr Fox at work in Valentines Park? Digga! Digga! Dig!

Sunday 5th July 12.00 – 17.00 the Friends will be hosting a Special Open Day inside the mansion, for families, primary schoolchildren and anyone interested in Family History.

There will be stalls, to ASK AN EXPERT!

There will be fun activities!

A ‘guess the museum object’ game with a selection of small intriguing objects

New family trail– (£3 per family) solve the clues, then enter the prize draw to win a Fantastic Mr Fox jigsaw puzzle

There will be interest for adults and children alike!

Books about family history, items from the archives of the Museum and Heritage Centre and other visiting groups.

There will be a chance to “get crafty” in the Victorian Kitchen

You could be decorating and maybe even wearing a woodland animal mask (free while supplies last!) while listening to the catchy tunes from Fantastic Mr Fox in the company of cast members of the show. If you love Roald Dahl, you’ll love this stage adaptation by David Wood, which is on from 24-26 July at Redbridge Drama Centre, performed by members of IODS Productions.

There will be a prizegiving ceremony at 2pm!

Children who entered the annual Hooker Prize schools competition will be finding out who has won the three top prizes and receiving their certificates.

There will be displays!

You’ll be able to read the letters written by children who imagined visiting the mansion in 19th century when it was a family home and judge for yourselves just how creative children are!

A slideshow will play on a loop 12.00 – 2.00 pm and 3.00 – 4.30pm so you can test your knowledge of who ever lived at Valentines!

And for those of you visiting for the first time recently, there will be a chance to catch the amazing art exhibition ORDINARY DAYS by young artists 8-18 years old before it finishes.
