The “walls and halls” of Valentines Mansion are seeped in history, stories and poetry. We will be exploring this on Sunday 9th July with a relaxing, inspirational Special Open Day, when you might share your favourite poem, learn, read or even write a new one. Free entry is between 10.30 and 4pm with lots to do.
Primary children in Redbridge have been writing poems about the mansion and some of these will be on display in The Gallery alongside beautiful works by some of the resident artists. The winners of the Friends of Valentines Mansion Prize will be announced at 3pm.

There will be two one-hour workshops to tickle your creative flow, one at 11.30 (Write It!) and one at 2pm with storyteller, writer, teacher and poet Jane Ulysses Grell (Say It!)
To save queuing on the day you can book your place online (at no cost) and simply give your name on arrival to receive your free ticket. Please arrive 30 minutes before the workshop starts as unclaimed tickets may be given out on the day after that time.
The morning session can be booked here.
Bring a picnic and make a day of it, relaxing in wonderful surroundings. There will be music in the historic Walled Garden with Redbridge Music Lounge. For children, apart from the workshops, there will be craft activities and for everyone there will be poems everywhere! Or bring a favourite poem to share by reading it from the BIG RED CHAIR!

We are celebrating Nature on this day. The theme is green, so please try not to come by car. Car parking is limited and there are plenty of buses as well as nearby tube (Gants Hill) and Elizabeth Line (Ilford). Poems chosen, written or read will most likely have nature as their theme. Activities to learn about bees, pollinator pathways and adopting a tree pit outside our house will Keep us Buzzing!
